9-Aug-2012: The Authentics play Hollinger Park
9-Aug-2012: The Authentics play Hollinger Park pavillion as part of Timmins Summer Concert Series. As well as covers, we played three originals: “The Moon in Daylight”, “My Favourite Waste of Time”, and “Try Again” – all written by Chris Aitken and his daughter, Devon Aitken. The Authentics is the re-branding of an all-ages pop/rock/country group culled from Chris Aitken, a few of his guitar students (including a mandolin student), and a hired gun or two. After a few years playing twice- or three times-yearly, Chris felt they were good enough to have a classier name than “The students of Chris Aitken”. Chris got the name from the Baumhours (a local musical family), who were not using it. Playing outdoors in beautiful weather for our friends, families and Timmins locals made for a great night! Line-up L to R: Devon Aitken (singer, songwriter), Hanna (singer, guitarist), Chris Aitken (singer, songwriter, guitarist), Carolle Hunter (singer, mandolinist), Nick Baumhour (drums), and Steven Alcock (out of the picture, unfortunately). Everyone except the drummer also takes turns playing bass.
